Über 2 Monate streckt sich das Programm des Kontracom. Temporäre Kunstinstallationen werden in der ganzen (Alt)Stadt Salzburgs für Diskussionen sorgen – in Salzburg regt ja gleich mal was auf. Und so hoffe ich dass viele Künstler bzw der Kurator Max Hollein das „Kontra“ in Kontracom ernst nehmen und es wirklich was zu sehen gibt und die auf der Website angekündigte „fine“ art wirklich fein ist.

Das Musik- und Performanceprogramm kommt von Tomas Zierhofer-Kin, setzt auf größteils (mir) unbekannte Musiker und Gruppen. Fr. 12. Mai ist Eröffnung mit einem Konzert im republic, interessant klingt auch die „DJ-VJ-Dance-Avantgarde“ am 3. Juni im republic. Es folgen Sound-Installationen in Kirchtürmen (9. und 10. Juni) und ein Konzert von Mike Ladd (Album „The Majesticons“, Ninja Tune 2003; Album „Nostalgialator“ auf !K7; u.a.) und dem Pianisten Vijay Iyer und Ibrahim Quraishi, ausserdem tritt mal Oliver Hangl von Funkstörung auf (die ich aber als Gruppe wirklich unaufregend finde, Kaospad drücken kann jeder) – das ist am 2. Juni in Form einer „Silent Parade“ durch die Altstadt ab 16:00 (Start: Rockhouse).

Spannend wird ob KontraCom als „kontra commerce“ oder „kontra communications“ zu sehen ist und es wirklich mal aufregt und neuen Wind und den versprochenen Diskurs in die Stadt bringt, oder obs einfach ein ein weiterer Mozartkugel-Trip wird, der im Trott des Mozartjahrs mitschwimmt. Ich tipp auf Ersteres und glaub dass Kontracom gut wird!

This friday it“s happening! Kool Keith is coming to Austria, and we are really looking forward to his set at the Donaufestival in Korneuburg. To get an impression of all his works, listen to the upcoming Alphabeat radioshow this Wednesday. Also, laut.de has a really good description of his works and bio.

The man with the beats: 45 King

After his 4-day-Workshop from May 2-5, organised by Beatconnection, 45 King will be on stage at the Donaufestival in Korneuburg. Also the 10 lucky workshoppers can present their mixing and beat knowledge live. After all that the stage will belong to all-time-favourites DJ DSL and DJ Cutex. Actually the atoledo.com guys from Echo Depth Finders should play as first band, but unfortunately they can“t be there.

The visuals for whole night will be made by VJs from Strukt Visual Network! So look forward to some online casino live hip-hop visuals, we are working with a really extensive stage setup with 5 beamers and grafitti stage elements. As you can imagine, it“s challenging to visualise the diverse styles of artists like Kool Keith and 45 King… we are also going to work with live-painting and tagging with grafitti-artists like Akim from Jazzstylecorner Berlin.
